Navigating Insurance Applications During the Holiday Season: A Tale of Patience and Perseverance


I started my application for this healthy lifestle program in September, hoping to have it in place by the Christmas holidays. Using myself as a test case, as both advisor and client, I knew I would get a great behind-the-scenes look into the ins and outs of these types of programs and be able to better serve my clients if the program ended up being good value and something I thought they'd benefit from.


I knew the underwriting, a necessary evil, would take time and unfortunately, it was done just in time for the holidays.... 'Tis the season to be jolly, but for those of us knee-deep in the maze-like world of insurance applications, it can feel more like a challenging puzzle than a holiday celebration. Join me on a journey through the twists and turns of securing insurance during the festive season, where patience and perseverance become your necessary companions.


The Challenge of Skeleton Staff

Holiday seasons are marked by a skeleton staff. Companies operate with minimal personnel, leaving you with limited support for your insurance application. Quick responses become as elusive as Santa Claus on a summer beach.


Emails - Our Lifeline in a Silent Office

With phone calls at this time of year leading to a merry-go-round of unanswered lines and futile attempts to find someone who knows the ropes, emails become our lifeline. However, even the written word can't escape the holiday spirit, as responses arrive at a leisurely pace, reminiscent of a relaxed island holiday.


A Four-Month Journey of Misunderstandings

Our adventure began in September, with the promise of a smooth insurance application process. Little did we know that this journey would extend over four months, be marred by underwriting misunderstandings and delays that could rival a suspense novel.


Frustration and Missed Opportunities

As the clock ticked on, frustration mounted and opportunities slipped through my fingers. In my case, I missed the chance to participate in the Rapha Festive 500, an event that could have swiftly propelled me through the program's status levels...all due to slow responses.


A Glimpse into Industry Norms

As we wade through this tale, it's worth noting that my experience is not unique. The insurance industry dances to its own holiday tune, and as December approaches, there's a collective scramble to wrap up loose ends.

They're the lighthouse guiding your ship safely to shore. In this case, as both advisor and client, I was rescuing myself becuase I had all the business contacts to badger to get the results I needed!
