Understanding Challenger Financial (CGF)
Torpedo Tuesday applies the research process known as the Quality Filter Model run by Atlas Funds Management. Hugh Dive from Atlas Funds Management explains the inner-workings of companies on the ASX and rates the quality of the company against the market and its peers. This week Dive explains Challenger Financial (CGF), a diversified financial services company that has grown with the introduction of compulsory superannuation in 1992. Other key milestones in the development of the company was the merger in 2003 with Kerry Packer’s CPH Investment Corporation, establishing its first funds management boutique in 2005 and creating an annuity JV in 2017 with Mitsubishi to sell annuity products into Japan. Recent annuity sales at CGF have been a concern for investors and Dive explores how this impacts the company.
